Default CCW Insurance, what's best?

In one of my classes the instructor recommended getting liability insurance to cover you when you start daily carry. What types of insurance are others carrying, if any? Recomendations? Any and all advice is welcome.

I'm interested in this too. At his seminar last week, Col. Grossman recommended USCCA's "shield" insurance. But it seems to me to be a sales gimmick and that's reinforced by a Google search of gun fora comments. Anyone have a plan they like?

Look into your homeowners policy, and possibly get an "umbrella" policy. I will be picking up a 1 million dollar policy, combined with the homeowners I will end up with $1.3M in coverage. This will only cover "CIVIL LIABILITY" not criminal.

NOTE: This is where you really need to read the fine print of your policy. LTCs, self-defense, and "intentional acts" are considered different things to insurance companies. Be sure to get it in writing.

NRA offers insurance with a "Self Defense" rider. Also, the Armed Citizens' Legal Defense Network offers a different type of insurance for CCW holders. I have both, and a $1,000,000 umbrella policy. If you get into a shooting, no matter how much it wasn't your fault, you will get sued civilly. And there are DA's in this state that will charge you just to try and make a name off of you.
