Default FN-FAL

We've decided to hook up with a company to build us some F.A.L.s. These rifles will be California and Federally compliant (in case anyone is wondering). I.E. no more than 10 foreign components and at least 7 American made parts. The receivers will be from Israel and in metric configuration.

My question to all the Calgunners out there that would be interested is what type of furniture would you want installed if decided you would like to add one to your collection.
Options would be:
1. Ironwood Designs walnut to make these look more 'original'.
2. Ironwood Designs wood laminate (many colors to choose from)
3. Black synthetic

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated as these rifles are going to be built in less than 3 weeks. Let us know what you think

Thanks for the feedback, Bob. It was my 1st thought, as well.
Anyone else have an opinion?

Someone asked me what the selling price will be on these rifles. Here was my reply:

I hear an online only store (for most of us) back east was selling theirs for $1799. The ones we are looking at having built will be $1750 with wood furniture and a bit less for synthetic.
The receivers and barrel and some other hardware will have a nearly scratch-free coating that previously has only been used by certain handgun companies. Once my source has these field tested (hardcore field tested!) and the coating is up to our expectations, we will have them built and shipped possibly a week before Christmas 2012.
Thanks for your support everyone!

So, it looks like we're gonna go 2 directions with the furniture on these rifles: black synthetic and the others will be walnut. They will have DSA upper receivers.
Thanks for all your posts, everyone. Please feel free call or come by our little shop

Quick update:
DSA receivers are not available for quite some time right now. Therefor, we are having these rifles outfitted with Coonan receivers instead. From what we see the fit and finish of these parts are very similar to DSA and costs will be in the same ballpark.
We will have them made with walnut and synthetic furniture to give you guys two options once they arrive

I'd be intrested in the walnut if it comes with the 21"barrel and looks similar to the original Isreali FAL

They will have 21" barrels. As far as looking like an original Isreali FAL...We'll see how they turn out. I've been happy with everything Ironclad Armory has built for us in the past.

Bobby,
Do you know what parts are U.S. (aside from the Coonan receiver which has received great reviews) and what are foreign? More specifically, are these NOS barrels or DSA? I'm assuming these are built from the Argentine kits from Sarco? Bolt/carrier? These things are more important in the buying decision for me than the furniture.

We expect to see these by Jan. 4th at the earliest, or the following week. Can't wait to have these on the rack!
