Default Can not order out of stock guns

I was at Turners Norwalk and they told me they can not order out of stock guns, I would love to know why. every turners I have been to has no 226 and I asked for Turners gift cards so I can order one. Suck because if I knew I would have bought at Riflegear they have them in stock.

i was told its because the warehouses are empty and with all the ban crap going around everyone is buying everything, so they have no idea when they'll get a shipment in.

they are doing the smart thing... why take order for something they can't guarantee how much it's going to cost them when they get it, and if they can get it...

I've talked to a couple mfg's who are taking orders with known pricing and lead times, but the gun shops are unwilling to place the order.

What's the worst thing, they ban something so you cancel the order and end up refunding the money or using it as store credit?

Sounds more like they already have them on order, just want you to pay whatever inflated price they determine that day, vs the standard MSRP and knowing it will be months to get something in.

If you are forthright with the customer about the lead times and such, there is no reason not to place the order.

Turner's is typically VERY forthright about lead times with customers (when the knowledge is available).

I'm not particularly thrilled with this decision to not place orders for out of stock guns, but I can't say I blame Turner's in the least bit. It seems that so much focus is on rifles for the ban, that people forget how much handguns and shotguns will be impacted. The industry won't be able to keep up with demand, even if a ban would take effect two plus years from now.

So name names. Who are the manufacturers you've talked to, what are the products and prices and what are the exact lead times?
