I would say by the time I was done it was fairly even. You need to evenly distribute the lapping compound on the rings to start, and set the ring screws to the same torque spec. The first torque spec I had on the rings was something like 5 in/lbs. Any more than that and I was unable to slide the bar. I progressively increased the torque equally to the point in which I could just get the bar sliding.
