Hi mwhite. I can only be honest and say I don't know. The scotch brite removes the Parkerizing from the standard bolts, but I don't know what it will do to Nickel or phosphate. The scraping from the blade is on the surface and will not effect the finish because it does not cut into the metal. You may want to consider using just the scraper model that doesn't use the polishing pads. You wont get all of the carbon off that way, but you will get the majority off and it will be easy to do with the tool. The scraper model is $19.99 and available on our website.
