I am guessing OP has a couple of factors that may contribute to discomfort:
1.) Poor grip
2.) small hands (poor grip) or freakish large hands improper grip
3.) bad stance, bad arm position
4.) Too tense, tight grip but relax self
5.) monster full house loads with heavy bullet
7.) poor muscle tone in arms, hands (don't have to be a "man") just reasonable shape
8.) lack of familiarity - scared

Ok then there is the slight possibility of wimp snowflakish tendencies I am "mature" guy, not big, not super macho I can shoot easily 50 plus rounds of stout .44 in my trusty 629 six inch barrel with little side effect... its just about being a bit relaxed about it.
