I agree with the above comments 100%.

Personally, I can't imagine NOT buying a gun simply because I might be turned down for a permit. If you pick the right weapon, it should still have some value to you as a home defense weapon, or even just something to enjoy at the range. There are a number of handguns that can be concealed, and still are enough gun to protect your home.
