Hello,

It was a popular mod 60 or 70 years ago.

Lockup is achieved through a spring-loaded ball bearing.

There was an adjustable stud in the prototype, but the ball bearing just works better. It holds grease and dispenses it like a ball point pen, as needed.

Vertical stabilization is achieved by polishing the heck out of the sear engagement on the cocking piece. There is a certain burr found on there that makes the sear nose snag it and pull it down. Doing away with the burr solves the problem.

Those are the problems not solved 60-70 years ago when the first generation of cocking-piece-mounted sights came along, and why they got a bad rep.
