When we moved to our current rural home we would see ground squirrels playing around in a rock pile and thought "...oh, how cute they are with their mannerisms etc."

Uh-huh, uh-huh, until we started seeing all the holes around our foundation from them burrowing.

Our attitude changed and it was all out war to eliminate them.

Tree squirrels are a different matter. They do not burrow but will get on your roof and set up camp if they can find a way under the roof tiles.
Then they also get shot.

They both have their place in nature.....but not around my house.
