This ^

In all my shooting of my AR I have never used the charging handle to chamber a round. When I am shooting the bolt stays back any way on the last round so it is ready to be released on the next mag. Also, at the range they want actions to be open and bolts back so I do that as I am setting up my station when I get there. I always wondered why people charge with the handle.

Maybe in the service you don't want to walk around with a round chambered, but at the range, for me, this never comes up.
