I use a Knoxx SpecOps NRS and am quite pleased with it.

However, it does lower the gun relative to your shoulder and will make looking down the barrel extremely awkward. This stock is geared more toward the use of optics. If you want to shoot skeet or go duck hunting I wouldn't recommend it. You may or may not want to purchase an adjustable cheek rest.

EDIT: I just re-read your post. Since you are using the gun primarily for self defense, leave the stock alone. The standard stock is lightweight and fast without a bunch of crap sticking out to get caught on stuff. For self defense, avoid anything but simplicity. Simple is fast and in a gunfight, the winner isn't determined by who has the best gadget but by who gets off the first shot.
