Sorry I forgot to post instructions for this project. Not very useful without them. Here we go.

1
Hold a piece of fine-grit sandpaper in one hand. Hold one clean, empty aluminum soda or beer can in the other hand. Twist the bottom of the can against the sandpaper so that the lower two or three inches of paint is removed from the metal. Repeat for a second can.

2
Place a thick, heavy book on a flat work surface. Stand a ruler next to one end of the book. At the one-inch mark, insert a utility-knife blade between the pages of the book. The book acts as a holder for the blade.

Press down on the book cover above the blade with the palm of one hand. Hold the blade in place with your thumb against the dull side of the blade. With the other hand, rotate one of the empty cans against the sharp side of the blade to cut the bottom one inch off. Sand the cut edge to dull it.

4
Press the bottom of the second can into the cut bottom of the first can to widen it slightly. Remove the second can and place a wad of fiberglass insulation into the cut bottom of the first can. This is the bottom of your penny cookstove.

5
Repeat Step 3 for the second can. Turn the cut bottom piece over so that the former bottom of the can is now the top. This will be the top of your penny cookstove.

6
Make a group of five small holes in the center of the top of the penny cookstove with the pushpin. These are the fuel fill holes. They should be close enough together that a penny can cover them all.

7
Fit the top of the penny cookstove inside the bottom piece and work with it until you can get it to slide all the way down into the bottom half. You will need patience for this step because the pieces are nearly identical in diameter. If you have trouble, cut a small piece of metal from one of the discarded can tops and slide it between the stove pieces to help work them together. The top piece should be level.

8
Make 16 evenly spaced holes around the top of the penny cookstove outside the raised rim. These are the flame jet holes. Your stove is ready to use.

9
Place the penny cookstove on a flat, level surface. Set it inside a can or tin lid with raised edges. Squeeze about 2 tablespoons of alcohol slowly into the fill holes and wait for it to drain into the stove. It will be absorbed by the fiberglass insulation inside. Squeeze about a teaspoon of alcohol into the lid under the stove. Place a penny over the fill holes and squirt a few drops of alcohol on top of it. Light the alcohol that is in the can lid, and this will catch the alcohol inside the stove on fire. Jets of flame will then issue out from the jet holes.

Now you are ready to cook. I slide this in the bottom of a canteen cup stand and it works great. Also if it is made thin enough it will work in an esbit stove also, use 91% Alcohol ....
