Default Help!

Hi Idlplumb,
So I'm a DIY in need of some advice... and most likely will end up needing some help.

I had a leak in my restroom faucet so I decided to replace it. Everything went OK... I shut off the water, removed the old faucet, cleaned the area, applied silicone caulk and placed the new faucet, started to tighten the water supply lines to the faucet and everything went to hell. I snapped one of the water supply lines (shown in the top pic). So I guess I need to replace that water supply line. As I was loosening the piece in the top pic, the whole thing turned and I got a bit worried that water may come running out if I take it out... Can I just remove it and replace? Thanks for any advice!
