Shipment of PSA Lowers

Update 1/19/13:

Some folks have mentioned this in the thread so I thought I'd reiterate it here:

If you haven't received your call from Turner's to come down and start DROSing your lower, CALL THEM. They haven't been great about notifying people, I never received a single call. I called, was told they came in, and went down the same day.

Update 1/15/13:

If you've already DROS'd your lower(s) they're confirmed available for pickup at multiple Turner's locations. Good luck everyone!

Update 1/4/13:

After reading the mixed results over the past few days in this thread, and still having not received a phone call from Turners, I decided to call Torrance this morning.

I was told that I could begin DROSing the PSA lower that I had put a deposit on a few weeks back, even without a serial number allocated.

When I came down, the associate behind the counter initially didn't know that they were DROSing these lowers yet without serial numbers. However upon asking who I presume was the manager (Lee?) he was given the okay. Ironically the associate who was helping me actually had a PSA lower on pre-order as well, (to the manager) "Does this mean I can DROS my PSA lower too?!?!" :D

Apparently rather than systematically allocating a lower to each pre-order, they're just going to have a pile in the back of each store and allocate your serial number the day you pick it up after your 10-day DROS wait period.

They expect the lowers to arrive on probably 1/8 or 1/9. I didn't get any indication if they felt there would be lowers left over after all of the pre-orders had been filled, however I'd bet on there not being any.

It seems that not all stores are adhering to this policy, some stores are starting to DROS these lowers (like Torrance) while others are turning folks away for now. As much of a pain in the *** as it is to get someone on the phone, call ahead before going down just in case.

Original Post 12/20/12:

Just wanted to give a heads up to Calgunners. Turners is getting a shipment of 3,000 Palmetto State Armory AR-15 5.56 lowers next week and are taking deposits. "Sale" price is 109.99, then up to 119.99 next week I believe.

inosaris 12-20-2012 10:04 PM

Which ones are taking deposits? Torrance wasn't today...

monk 12-20-2012 10:22 PM

Damn, might take the chance and buy two. Missed the Mega Arms sale.

ClickClickPow 12-21-2012 6:26 AM

Fountain valley was not taking preorders on wednesday as well, I tried! They are expecting 1000 lowers from Mega I believe also! I did preordered windham weapons AR15 at the LB location.....Yes!!

I was at Torrance! Weird. All or the employees knew about it too...unless each store was given a quota of preorders?

inosaris 12-21-2012 9:43 AM

Weird, what time were you there?

FourLoko 12-21-2012 9:55 AM

knew I should have got in line this morning

~11am-noon yesterday.

Took a good hour or so for my number to come up. I overheard someone asking about lowers right when I got in, the man behind the counter told him they had some PSAs in the central warehouse. By the time my number got called, they were out of them in the warehouse but were taking backorders on their shipment next week. They were still honoring the $109.99 sale price.

Because they don't have them "in stock" yet, I obviously couldn't DROS but I'm at least "in" so to speak. Pretty pleasant staff there btw, considering all of the chaos.

Went to Turners today. They let me put down payments on four of them, but charged me $130 each.

Yes.

The going price for non-polymer lowers of any brand has been at least $90 pretty much anywhere for as long as I've been looking (basically all year). Once in a while PSA would put out "blemished" lowers for ~$70-80, but when I've been in Turners in the past, they had JD Machine, Mega, etc for ~$95-105.

Didn't you say in the past that you would never shop at Turners again?

monk 12-21-2012 10:37 PM

Just placed a down payment on two lowers. The guy behind the counter said he wasn't sure when they would arrive so I'm just assuming what I read here is accurate. Maybe end of next week I'll see something.

xDIEGOx 12-21-2012 10:42 PM

Will they be getting more Mega lowers in stock?

Colt562 12-22-2012 12:06 PM

How much did you guys pay out the door for one?

I think OTD for one was 160. Second one was like 130 because of the DROS.

Heading to the one in Norwalk in the morning, hope they are still taking deposits.

JNunez23 12-22-2012 8:27 PM

Get ready to be there for about 5 hours ;)

Or get there before they open, you won't be the only one.

Just have a nice breakfast and stay plenty hydrated ;) haha

You'll need to keep your strength up, but it will be worth the wait.

You'll need to present a valid, non-expired California Driver's License or Identification Card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. A military identification accompanied by permanent duty station orders indicating a posting in California is also acceptable.

HBfisherman 12-24-2012 10:21 AM

I put my deposit down for two on Wed, is there anyway that they can come back and cancel my order for any reason?

Probably. I could see them saying "These aren't coming for a LONG time...so we moved your deposit to store credit."

Sillyguy 12-24-2012 1:48 PM

Sillyguy 12-24-2012 2:26 PM

Here at fountain valley turners. No wait. 2 max per person

sickboy 12-24-2012 4:53 PM

The ones I started this thread about are AR-15 5.56 lowers, I've updated the original post for clarification.
