What? No bipod?
|
No bayonet?
|
You need a way to attach an AR upper under your mag tube.
Sort of like a KAC Master Key, on opposite day. |

Try carrying those things around for a few minutes and see how heavy they are. They look great in the photo shoot though........

I didn't see a compass or a cup holder, so the answer would be NO not accessory overkill.

whatever works for you. What i hear though is keep it simple, keep it simple, keep it simple.
I have a 870 with magpul stock and forend, mesa 6 rd side saddle. I wanted to add a light but havent found a mount. |
Assuming this is a HD/Duty/Fighting shotgun, as long as it goes bang 100% of the time and you are OK with the weight, then it is not "over accessorized" IMO. Having said that my personal HD shotgun is as accessorized as this and nothing more.
Started as an 870 express w/ 26" barrel 18.5" Bead sight I/C Mesa Tactical 6 shot carrier Elzetta light mount Wilson Tactical +2 shot extension Chopped express fore grip http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/...ps22516ac9.jpg |
if it works it works.
in my opinion, for a home def shotgun, i don't think having a lot of extra accessories is a big deal, as long as it is still 100% reliable and they still make the gun easier to use while hopped up on adrenaline for all of several minutes. i have almost nothing on most of my guns, the rest have 1 or 2 things at most, but 1 of my shotguns almost looks like a satire of too many accessories or mall ninjas. but i've ran it in many scenarios, and it works for me for its intended purposes. i just don't shoot it often and hence am thinking of selling some of the accessories. factory or after market tube extension, different barrel, porting or reshaped barrel, bigger/night sights, heat shield, light and supporting accessories, new furniture, suitable optic, side carrier, internal mods (ie high visibility follower, reshaping plate so your thumb can't get stuck), or even a recoil reduction system. any combination or all of those are in imo if you actually know how to use them and they are appropriate for your environment. the only thing i find questionable for a hd shotgun is a breacher/brake. from what i understand, the way a shotgun works, a brake isn't going to be that effective. i also don't see why anyone would need to breach their own doors down. edit: also a sling or sling mounts for an hd shotgun (unless it was part of something else) unless you wanted to run your gun at an event or class that required a sling. |

That being said, if you intend a shotgun to be a barricade ONLY gun(specious at best since you would leave it behind to retreat from your position), fair enough that you don't want a sling of some type. |
they seem to get in the way and in tight spaces, *seems* (thankfully no experience with this) like something for someone to grab on to.
home defense situation i can't imagine everyone is going to have time to get dressed, gear up, etc. to where you would be able to transition. i guess if you had a big property or the extra time it wouldn't hurt, but from the average home ive seen in CA, i doubt the above apply. if you need to run, just run with it in your hands? i imagine at most you may need to open doors in your own home, which i would imagine takes 1 hand or a tap from the foot if said door is already open. |

Essentially for every scenario where a sling wouldn't be needed, I can think of one that it would. Bottom line, if you don't want one, right on, but to dismiss a piece of safety equipment because YOU choose not to use it seems specious. |
Tach on whatever turns you on...
It only matters if you are infantry. |
you NEED a bayonet
