10/22 barrels

Thanks everyone, done shopping.

Never shot one, but would expect nothing but top of the line from them from the countless reviews. Other nice options as well.

after getting a bull barrel from Midway about 20 years ago i had such problems with FTE's on it. Well..duh..it was a match grade barrel and I was shooting whatever was on sale. Just beware on what kind of ammo you will be using.

I had the chamber "polished" a bit to loosen up tolerance. It eats anything now

Nothing better then Kidd barrels.

Just added a 18” bull ss. Shot about 100 rounds on Fed auto match. My Cz 455 Varmint is nervous. Looking forward to trying some good ammo.

Feed your Varmint the ammo that it likes and it will make your 10/22 nervous. My CZ puts my fancy 10/22’s to shame.;)

You will be pretty happy with barrels from any of the major manufactures, Shilen being one of those. Personally I went with Green Mountain which has the Bentz Chamber and Shilen calls theirs Shilen/Bentz Chamber.

Yeah, but how long does it take to shoot 500 rounds. With my 50 Ruger magazines, about ............ and that's with cool downs. I like to shoot, not load. To each his own. :oji:  :)

PS: Three of my Rugers have Green Mountain barrels and shoot plenty good enough for me.

I have one 10-22 outfitted with a Green mtn and the other with a factory Ruger hammer forged target barrel, both are fitted with quality high power scopes and both have had the same trigger work. For me, and I'm no sharp shooter by a far stretch, they are both excellent shooters and I recommend either. In both cases the barrels are noticeably better than the stock barrels on my receivers.

I would do anything to get a 10-22 outfitted with a factory bull barrel. I want one of those so much.

Recently installed Litte Crow Gunworks recoil lug (very easy) and it's a significant improvement. $40 to make every bbl shoot better.

Don't overlook Feddersen barrels. They are very popular with the members on rimfirecentral.com. I have one and it is an accurate barrel.

Another choice is Whistle Pig. Lightweight, fluted/unfluted in various colors.

I drink Whistle Pig on occasion. Wouldn't call it lightweight and I wouldn't drink it out of a flute. If it's any color than Chestnut, you got cheated.

What loader do you use? I still use one of those BC crank loaders.

If I am shooting for accuracy I like to take my time with the C Z. If Iím spraying lead, I use my 10/22 or Marlin 60.

Was going to say, CDNN had these a while back for a great deal - like half MSRP IIRC... but I checked and they still have them. $370

Calamity and I each have two of the boxes in the link below. They each hold 18 Ruger magazines. The fit very nicely in my range bag. I preload them before going to the range. That's 720 rounds between us, and we've never not shot them all, and most times reloaded a few more.

Not sure what you mean by "spraying" lead. I only use sv rounds through my two Rugers with GM barrels, and it's extremely rare that I have any ten round groupings over 1", most are 1/2"-3/4" at fifty yards. This is 10 rounds in 15-20 seconds, using only a bipod. Calamity is using up the hv's I have, and probably will be for the next couple of years. Her groupings are 1"-1 3/4" as she shoots a bit faster than I do. Her two Ruger model 11165's also have GM barrels.
