HD Shotgun and Pistol training course in IE?
New to shooting.. I recently purchased a 12 gauge shotgun and a 9mm pistol for Home Defense. Any classes or training worth registering for in the IE that will prepare me for HD usage? Please reply if you've personally taken the course.

Never taken the course, but firearms training associates is one of the few local ones I know of. They shoot out of Rahaages in Corona.

Also haven't taken a class, I met the owner at a social occasion... Certainly a good guy.

Check out Scott Reitz at ITTS http://www.internationaltactical.com/. He runs up at Angeles, not exactly I.E. but he's not on the moon either.

Thanks to everyone for your recommendations. They were ALL great choices. I looked into all the options and called them all. I set a session with 5arrowstactical because they were willing to setup a private session with just my wife and I to go over a tailored and specific training for our experience level and needs. The sessions won't be until mid-August due to our availability. I will post comments then to give my thoughts on the training itself.

ITTS is great for more advanced shooters.
Take a look at www.shooters-edge.com. The owner Bruce teaches classes and he also brings in advanced guest instructors. TJ Johnson out of Orange County is a former NRA board member and he has a variety of basic firearm courses. He company is all safe defense. He also is an NRA training counselor and trains people to become NRA certified instructors. http://www.allsafedefense.com/ |
Ammo Bros. and Turners might know something. :)

Darren Harlow's Home Defense training at 5ArrowsTactical.com in San Dimas - Post Training Review: It was everything I was hoping for. My wife and I opted for a private session since I've only been shooting for 6 months and she had never touched a firearm in her life and has been anti-guns her whole life. I can honestly say that she is a believer now and had so much fun and felt very safe and at ease while in the training. She may want to get her own pistol now. Hahaha
Our private sessions consisted first of a 3 hour class session to learn about firearms safety and the Do's and Don'ts, proper grip, proper stance, cleaning and disassembly of our firearms, personal Home Defense plans for our family, and much more. Then a 3 hour hands on session at the range to apply everything we learned and to perform drills for Home Defense shooting with my Shotgun and Pistol. Darren had a set plan but would adjust as we wanted more or less focus on any specific area. He was patient with my wife was able to introduce her to our firearms at a perfect pace. I highly recommend his group sessions or private sessions for anyone who's interested in Home Defense training. |
Excellent!!!!
