Whats with San Diego and all the Guns !

Have you noticed, it seems like 95% of all Firearms Private Sales seem to be from San Diego !!! Why is that ????

DMan8 02-22-2013 6:47 PM

same here. I been shopping around for my first handgun. Browsing the for sale for probably 2 hours a day. seems like 80% are in the SD/LA area. Pretty frustrating that I keep coming upon great deals only to find out its on the other end of CA

Steph 02-22-2013 6:50 PM

I bought my P-01 from someone in San Diego, two round trips wasn't all that fun. Everything seems to be NorCal or extreme SoCal, not much in between. :-\

Atlantaboi2012 02-22-2013 6:52 PM

There is a HUGE military and LEO population here and we love our guns and when we get tired of the old we wanna get rid of them so we can go get the new. They should rename this site SoCalguns because most of the people on here selling stuff are between Orange County and San Diego. Dont think too many people would feel comfortable doing PPT with anyone in LA or putting up with that traffic. Every bluemoon or so Ill see someone in northern Cali selling stuff but most times they dont wanna ship soo they dont really count

855R 02-22-2013 7:16 PM

I never sell a gun, it's a one way trap door at my house.

Sam 02-22-2013 7:33 PM

It's all those American purchased guns coming back from Mexico...

russt 02-22-2013 7:35 PM

You SoCal guys are always teasing us with your guns for sale

MA2 02-22-2013 8:00 PM

FS: Glock under MSRP

nevermind, wrong section.

mabilis_matulis 02-22-2013 9:17 PM

Yap I notice that a lot is coming from SD.. Hmmm :gene:

Mr.Hipp 02-22-2013 9:27 PM

I'm in s.d. and it seems like all the deals are in sac. Grass is always greener.
I've met calgunners from l.a. or s.g.v. up at the shootist or riflegear. Don't mind takin a drive if it's to pick up a 686 or a 4566.

toddh 02-22-2013 10:31 PM

Actually, I wish there was more of us down here in SoCal. Especially around election time...:D

ST22 03-24-2013 6:33 AM

what I'm noticing

An equal amount of sales, yet, one side tends to have more of one type that the other.

For example. I've been looking for a nice lever action handgun round rifle, either in 357 magnum or 44 magnum, as well as a wheel gun 4" or less in the same caliber. I've notice most of the wheel guns for sale are in Northern California.

That's when I started paying more attention. More hunting rounds show up in Northern Cal, mixed in with a few others commonly found on Calguns. SoCal has more military and law enforcement rifles and handguns. This is just a broad observation. I just noticed that when I was looking for something particular, I would notice the tendencies of where they would show up. That, or no one is letting go of what I'm looking for as much down in SoCal as they are in NoCal.

pc_load_letter 03-24-2013 7:17 AM

Ha ha, I was just thinking the opposite. I am in San Diego and can't find anything.

All the firearms I would buy from sellers are in SF and Sac and Fresno area.

Henry Shooter 03-24-2013 7:43 AM

More people live in San Diego and LA Including surrounding cities than the rest of California?

Rickrock1 03-24-2013 8:05 AM

We in the IE. Well we just don't sell them !!

Bete Noire 03-24-2013 8:12 AM

I'm pretty sure it correlates strongly with the blue vs red portions of the state. San Diego county is still clinging our guns and religion.

x2, most great deals are in northern ca while we're stuck with 400 big 5 mossbergs.

MQUnlimited 03-24-2013 2:22 PM

Surprisingly, its pretty conservative down here. Love it.

I'd love for you to show me the "conservatism" in the LA/SD area. I have to maintain a residence in a NorCal county just so I can have a CCW permit. LA and SD County Sheriff's sure aren't going to issue them. Matter of fact both the SD and LA Mayor and CoP are on Feinstein's AWB committee.

People keep telling me how conservative SoCal is. I'm calling b.s. on that. The reason people sell their guns down in that area is there are **** for ranges to shoot at (I'm talking real ranges that go out to 1,000 yards, and ranges that you can actually draw and manuever while firing), and no regular schmoe can get a CCW permit. Just my .02 after being down in SD county for a year and a half.

you and i are so different, i just sold a fantastic 1983 walnut M1A. i had fun with it for a while and was offered 2300 for it. paid 1500 4 months ago BY BY.:D
a few rifles i will not sell but most i just play with and then sell. i never get attached to mechanical things. no such thing as a safe queen in my house. shoot it or sell it.

ImpaktechUSA 03-24-2013 6:55 PM

my first guess would be MILITARY!

SB1964 03-24-2013 6:57 PM

Because we're packin'

H2H 03-24-2013 6:59 PM

bigger houses = more space for safes = more guns :)

Are you kidding me, there is a 1000 yard range at Camp Pendleton. There is a 900 yard range at Pala. Were you living in a box for a year and a half? You should give some change back for your .02.

If you wanted to "maneuver while firing" go find some BLM land.

You haven't done nothing till you've done (2) round trips to San Diego from nor-cal ;)

Nick Adams 03-24-2013 7:13 PM

Camp Pendleton? Miramar? A lot of military coming and going.

The range on Camp P. is not a public range that I'm aware of. I know it used for matches, but I don't think it is open all the time to the public. No idea where the one on Pala is, but I will look into it. And I'm not a fan of the BLM as there have been to many horror stories of shooters being hassled. But the number one thing down here, is no CCW. That one issue keeps me from moving permentely in this area. I don't know how the residents down here don't vote that fool of a Sheriff out the door.

Pala is off the I15 by past Pala Casino off the 76.

I agree with you about the CCW. Voting out Ruby Ridge Gore would be like voting out DiFi.

From what I understand they just approved the construction of a new one over in Poway.

Right, there is that one (that was in the news), plus the owner of Poway Weapons and Gear wants to build a range as well.

yeah. they're scheduled to open spring 2014. it's the guys from the poway gun store on poway and pomerado. said to have 17 lanes, with 100 yard lanes and not to have cease fires like P2k. will be in the area of the Costco on scripps poway pkwy.

When San Diego and Imperial counties succeed from Ca. and hook onto Arizona we will have a real paradise down here.
We would also get "Sheriff Joe" too. :)
If Imperial County won't pitch in we will be 'Western Arizona'.

Now how do we make this happen ?
