Some LTC Resources.

CCW is now LTC!

Here are some very helpful CCW resources I use; the first one is a California CCW forum and the 2 additional links are 50 state CCW resources with lots of information including interactive CCW reciprocity maps to see which states your collection of CCW's are good for.

I liked how http://defensivecarry.com reads so far, been on there a few times.

This was just published, a summary of state laws regarding applying for a non-resident concealed carry weapons permit/license:

http://www.survivalblog.com/2009/10/...ident_con.html

I can't vouch for the accuracy or the source, just thought it might be of interest.

Experience with this website?

Does anyone have any experience with this website? Did it help you to get a CCW?

If you have good cause in an area that is not likely to issue, this is a good resource.

We'd like to think that that is a good resource for anyone wishing to learn about the CCW application process and relevant laws for anyone in any area where CCW's are not given out freely (and, to us, that means all of them).

Billy Jack has several decades of experience in this area, and is one of the few people to have a relevant court case named after him.

TBJ, contactable through the site, is willing, for free, to critique your Good Cause and guide people through the process, right up to (if it happens) the redenial after an appeal. This in any area, you can screw up an application in a near Shall Issue area by going about it the wrong way. Best to get your ducks in a row right from day 1.

Should the denial appear to be challengable in court, and the client wishes to fight it, TBJ is then able to step into a paid advisory service, complete with its own P.I.'s and attorneys, to help you fight the decision. Although this will cost you money, this will be discussed up front and TBJ does its best to help people keep this to a minimum.

However, TBJ can be blunt with people, perhaps when the Good Cause is, say, no more than a wish in a county that wants cast iron good causes or when the applicant is wishy washy and/or "dubious" in some way. Some don't like this, but do you really want us to sugar coat a poison pill? If you don't stand (much of) a chance of getting a CCW, we tell you.

It costs nothing to run things past us, and may save some disappointment later.

Incidently, we assist several people most every day. Many of these contact us later and tell us that they indeed have been granted their CCW. Most say that the information and free advice we have given them make things run a lot smoother.

Another Awesome Resource For CCW

Hope you all don't mind me getting in on this thread. We belong to the United States Concealed Carry Association. They distribute the Concealed Carry Magazine which is by far one of the best magazines available for ccw training and resources there is. There link is below for their website. Thanks for the chance to contribute.

Several people in this subform apparently did not know about CGF's major push to force individual counties to go "virtual Shall Issue." I've been in the fight to take this state to Shall Issue for 5+ yrs and I consider this the MOST IMPORTANT undertaking yet.

I've listed links you should review in the order you should review them.

Review the .pdf flow chart linked at:

Here is another resource. It's a great learning tool and worth the money spent on it.

12052.5. The licensing authority shall give written notice to the applicant indicating if the license is approved or denied within 90 days of the initial application for a new license or a license renewal or 30 days after receipt of the applicant's criminal background check from the Department of Justice, whichever is later.
Sheriffs have 90 days to reply to your application as MOST background checks take 30 days or less. MOST Sheriffs are in violation of this law! It takes almost a year in many counties in California!

Question: For those of us who have a few permits from other states (like Utah, Arizona, Florida, etc.) is there a complete list for all the states on whether or not they have a requirement to notify when interacting with LEO?

An answer: https://www.usacarry.com/duty-to-inform-laws/

For all intents and purposes, calccw is a dead site. If you look at their viewing numbers at any given time, it's only about a dozen people.

CalGuns is the go-to resource for all things CCW. We have people that have been through the process, have their permits and know the law.
