gonna need a new safe soon...
i'm running out of room in my current gun safe.. i've got an amsec 10 gun safe right now. but MAN! i'm running out of room... any suggestions on a decently priced safe for say 20 longrifles?
EDIT: most likely will be placing some important documents in there as well. along with the pistols that i own and possibly my wife's jewelry. |

Put a value on what you plan to store in it. Then spend the same or more on the safe. Buying a safe hurt$, but losing your arms hurts much more. Its a bit long, but worth your time if you are serious in buying a safe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltK-bDbADa8 Start at 2:30. |

After reading OP I realized that our safe is currently empty. Two riffles upstairs, one rifle downstairs, handgun in one room, another in a different room. Why? I dunno. Oh well.

Spend once, cry once.

You really want a vault, not a safe. Look into the Fort Knox M2. Pretty much the best buy for the money. Few thousand I think, but more than worth it. Have seen these in person and was really impressed.

Amsec SF series. 1/4" steel plate door and 12 ga. uniweld body. $1800. Don't buy a safe, Invest in one.
Makes no sense storing over 10k worth of valuables in a 1k< safe... |
Keep in mind that if you have something like a typical 'AR: pistol grip, optic, 10/30 'mag, it's going to take up 3 spots in your typically configured safe. So if you buy a "10" gun safe now you're down for a lot less guns. If I could do it again I would've bought three times the listed capacity of what I have now...

EDIT: OP, what is your budget? That will make recommendations a lot easier to make. |
Not sure what your budget is and a few other details but I can tell you I'm very happy with my Sturdy Safe. Their web site has lots of good info on safes (RSC's) in general and what to look for. Mine is the standard 7ga but 5ga is available as an option. Lots of other cool options available too. If looks are important the higher end Liberty safes are very nice but get very pricey too. Good luck!
