first 10/22

I just jailed my first 10/22 stainless and would like some advice on what optic to put on it. I was thinking something 3-9x , and would like to cap the price @200$ not including rings, not looking for red dots. What brands to look for and which to stay away from? Thanks.

Check out the Nikon Prostaff rimfire BDC 3x-9x-40. Good scope for the money. Retails for $149 but it could be found closer to $100. You won't be disappointed. Stay away from UTG, NcStar and Barska.

Nikon p-22 3-9x40 is also a very nice scope. Parallax is set at 50 yards. They retail around $179.00.

Buy a budget scope and spend the savings on something else. These are the most popular:

Simmons .22 mag TruPlex for under $50; comes in black or silver to match a 10/222 stainless
http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-TruPle.../dp/B00DQT7GQ8

UTG Bug Buster for $80; red/green illuminated reticle (not red dot), lever release mounts
http://www.amazon.com/UTG-3-9x32-Com.../dp/B005UGIMNQ

Both come with picatinny rails, so you'll need to swap out the stock weaver rail too.

+1 That Nikon rimfire scope is the best value scope for a 10/22 you can get. I have one on both my 10/22s, and love it.

Look into getting a few more mags and attach them to a tri mag.

I just got mine on Amazon for $130. Free Prime 2nd day air is pretty sweet too.

A few years ago I was in the market for a 10-22 scope. Had never heard of the Mueller, but did some research. Ended up buying one and love it.

Get a sheet of glass and pour milk on it. Now hold it up in front of your face and look at a target 100 yards away. Now you know what its like to own a nikon;). Oh and dont expect to see bullet holes past 5 feet. I ended up with a weaver after I returned the nikon and its not much better. I can see holes at 50 but not 100 and it is blurry at 100. You have to spend money to get good glass. My next scope will be a leupold in the 400 range. Im tired of looking through blurry washed out glass.

And yes they all look decent in the store, its when you put them to use in the field you see the issues.
