AB 374 And Building An AR-15 In .22LR

Would like to know how this bill would affect me building a custom AR-15 style rifle in .22LR I have a lower I bought like 4 years ago. Thanks

Nothing because its not a centerfire.

rimfire rifles are safe from the banned list for now...

While this is true, dedicated .22 lr ARs are still a gray area until confirmed GTG under the new law. A M&P 15-22 is not a gray area because its receiver cannot be used with a centerfire upper.

Start building and have fun.

That is not how criminal law works.
Ever notice the lack of PCs that tell you what is LEGAL?

It's not a grey area at all, it's not a centerfire.

So riddle me this. My dedicated 22 AR uses a standard cmmg lower. Will I be able to sell and transfer it after January 1st if law goes through?

Also raises a question about buying lowers after January. Can you buy standard ar lowers to build a 22?

If it is not a semi-auto center fire rifle with a detachable magazine it is not subject to SB374 should it pass. So, it does not apply to any .22 of any kind, nor does it apply to stripped lowers, which could be built into .223/.308/.300blk rifles as long as they are either single pull or have a fixed magazine.

According to how SB374 is interpenetrated now .22 lr AR15s that use a standard AR15 lower receiver will be legal. I know, I get that.

Being that the lower receiver can of course accept a centerfire upper, I think there could be some issues. We'll see...

The law only states that which is illegal, not what is legal. If it is not specifically set out as prohibited then there's no violation of said law (as far as I understand the law).
