The Net-FFL list is actually located at:

looking for a FFL halfway ish between El Sobrante and Modesto to do a PPT ?
couldn't find one on the links |
Looking for an FFL in the Sonoma county area for a transfer in the next 30days or so.
All local shops are looking for 200+, so Id rather drive 50-60 miles and give my money to an honest FFL dealer before the gouge shops. |

Modesto area FFL for PPT
Can anyone recommend a FFl near Modesto that can handle a PPT with the seller shipping the shotgun to that area? I'm the seller and i'm in Socal.
|
It is not a PPT unless both the buyer and seller go to the same FFL.
|
I'm new to the LA area and am looking for a good (read cheap) FFL that is fairly close. I live in Marina Del Rey and work in Beverly Hills. According to the sites posted above I either gave to go fairly far or pay $100+ for a out of state transfer. Any recommendations?
|
I'm also in the LA area, Torrance/South Bay area to be exact. Anyone know of an FFL close by that doesn't charge an arm and a leg, and/or accept shipment from an out of state private party?
|
Sharpshooters charges $45 for ptt. Not so bad but they insist on selling a new loxk with every transfer.
|
$45 for a PPT is illegal, so it is bad. A PPT is limited to $25 for the DROS and $10 for the FFL.
|

$25 for DROS $10 FFL +$10 gun lock. They insist on making you buy it. |
If the firearm comes with a lock, as required, and they require you to purchase a lock, then that would be a violation of the law.
|
For ptt, they require a lock. For new firearms sales no loxk required.
|
As I said, if a certified lock is included with the PPT firearm, then it is illegal for them to require you to buy one. The fact that new firearms do not require a lock be purchased (most include a lock), tends to show that it is a profit issue.

My brother and I are trying to locate a good FFL to transfer a AK from Atlantic Firearms.
We called City Arms, but they said they could not/would not do it. The guy who picked up the phone at City Arms (strong eastern european accent!) seamed like he had no idea what he was talking about when I told him what I was wanting to do. I spent about 5 minutes trying to explain to him what I was trying to do and he was clueless. This was weird because Atlantic Firearms has them listed on their site as a FFL. Next we will try Bullseye in San Rafael. Any suggestions? Thanks guys! |

Looking for an FFL in Apple Valley, Victorville, Phelan, Hesperia to help me purchase my AR Lower Receivers or AR rifle. I am aware that I will need locking magazine release and a 10 rd or 10/20 - 10/30 magazine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
|
FYI, an AR lower receiver does not need to have a locking magazine if there is no upper on it since it is not a semi-auto firearm. There are bolt and pump uppers (at least in the past). Before you can put a semi-auto upper on it, your would need a locking magazine release.
|
You may be right but every FFL that I have spoken with will not process the lower unless it comes with a RADDLOCK or they install one!

If they believe they can install one, then they must be assault weapon dealers by their thinking. If they tell you it has to have a BB on it, then it can only mean they believe it's an assault weapon without it...right? So why are they accepting assault weapons and putting bullet buttons on them? |
You can ask them why, one issue that they might be missing is that it is not a semi-auto firearm, therefore the restrictions don't apply until you put a semi-auto upper on it. Ask them if you need the BB if you put a bolt action or pump action upper on it.
As said, it has to come into CA in a legal configuration, so the FFL can not install the BB on it IF it was required. You might not be able to find a FFL who knows the requirements, but you might keep checking in your area, there should be one or you might be able to educate one. |
Looking to order a rifle from buds gun shop online and can't get ahold of an ffl in Santa Barbara area that will do it. Any suggestions?
|
How far are you willing to drive?
Are the local FFLs not willing to do any Internet order or just from Bud's? It might be best to start a new thread though. |

If I buy a handgun online from a store from out of state, in order for me to get my gun is to go through a FFL? How do the fees work? Do I have to pay the FFL fee + DROS fee + CA sales tax?
|
Quote:
Yes you pay the FFL transfer fee, the DROS, and the CA Sales Tax if the dealer asks for it. Legally the dealer is on the hook for the sales tax, but some dealers don't collect it and by doing so agree to pay your taxes come tax time. However, at the same time, you are supposed to pay use tax on any out of state purchases as well. |
Thanks tenpercentfirearms. I'm a fellow Bruin too. Aren't you glad we went there before all the fee hikes?
|
What is the average FFL fee. Im seeing in my area an $85 fee. Seems steep to me? I talked to the sales guy at Bass Pro in Rancho and he said $75 is a rip off, which is what they charge to take in a FFL.

A guy in Riverside charges $55 all fees included ! Tim Lybbert Tim's Gun Shop 3972 Stonehedge Dr Riverside, CA 92509 Email: Click here to email me Phone: 909-801-4875 Fax: 951-213-6153 Hours: by appointments please Long Gun Fee: $55.00 for the first long gun Hand Gun Fee: $55.00 for the first handgun, NICS Fee: ALL DROS fee included in my fees already Other Fee: $25.00 for each additional firearm check him out! |
Fees vary. When you consider the costs and issues, I don't think that it is fair to call the various fees a ripoff. You would have to look at their overhead and perhaps they just don't want to do it. The first rule in consulting is to never say no, just name your price. If you don't really want to do something, you name a high price and the person will either pay or go away.
With that said, there are places which are lower. The lowest I have heard about is $10, the highest is $150. Not sure of what the average is, but I would say that $75 is still a bit on the high side, but not completely unreasonable. Remember, not all service is the same. |
i dont know if this is the right place to post this question, but i'm looking for an FFL dealer that will allow me to ship an AR15 pistol receiver to their store. I havent bought it yet, but am looking to buy it soon either from Spikes Tactical or RRA.

Hi!
Looking for a FFL in Fremont to do a PPT. Anyone able to recommend a shop? Thanks! Mike |
Who will do a transfer and accept from an individual near Los Angeles, Orange County or Ventura County? I'm trying to avoid paying sales tax on a used gun from an individual, but I'm still not 100% clear on that. Seems a lot of places or misinformed about the laws. Thanks!
