Appleseed in Corona, December 15-16 (Saturday Available, Sunday Sold Out)

***This shoot has sold out for Sunday*** But we have a few spots availble for Saturday Only shooters.

We had some folks who had scheduling changes for this weekend. As a result, a few spots have opened up for Saturday. PM me if you are interested and I will get you signed up, as the online signup will still show sold out.

Space on the line is also still available for the Azusa shoot at Burro Canyon on the same dates :).

Registration info is here: http://www.appleseedinfo.org/as_schedule2.php

Info about what to bring and how to prepare is here: http://appleseedinfo.org/as_prepare.html

Space on the line is going fast! Only three spots left as of this morning. If you want to join us, better not wait to get registered. You can do so at the link below:

I just picked up one of these slings for my 795...

Will this work, or do I need something else.

Kokak,

It is hard to tell the features of your sling from the picture. Ideally, for Appleseed, you will want a sling that can be rigged in both "loop" and "hasty" configurations. Most adjustable length, two point slings can be used effectively in "hasty". The sling pictured appears that it would work for hasty, at least. Check your documentation or the manufacturer's website for info on rigging it as a loop sling. If it can't be easily set up as a loop, you might want to think about picking up a GI sling too, just to keep your sling options open for the weekend.

Will we be using the same shooting area as last time and running relays? Will it be the same crew as Saturday or Sunday or another crew altogether?

It'll work as a Hasty Sling, but not (well) as a loop. The one buckle would have to both make your loop and adjust for length, and odds are it will loosen on you if you try to do both.

While you can do Hasty at Appleseed all day, most shooters find it tough to use Hasty in sitting and prone. I don't shoot sitting in Hasty except with my M1 Carbine -- for most rifles it makes me cant.

It'll be a mostly different crew. I'll be up at Burro Canyon that same weekend. Y'all are welcome to come up and see the sights! Still got space on my line, and no relays are anticipated. ;)

Hi Doug,

I'll be running the Corona shoot both days. So far no other repeat instructors have signed up, but some still may. We won't be running relays this time around. I look forward to seeing you and Mike there for Sunday w/ your upgraded sites.

VintageDUG 11-28-2012 8:46 PM

How many AQTs can we expect not running relays? I am still hoping to qualify with iron sights, but we will have the scoped Ruger with us as well. I'm sure we will just swap them back and forth.

rconnerley 11-28-2012 9:11 PM

Probably 4 or 5 AQT's on Sunday.

Still have one spot left for this shoot

The December Corona shoot has sold out. :(

Spots on the line are still availble for the Azusa shoot at Burro Canyon on December 15-16. If you have not been to a shoot at Burro, check this one out, it's a great Appleseed venue! :)

Talked to Jeff today in SD when I bought my new AR upper. He said he is staffing Corona. Great guy, glad to have him back on the line. I hope Pat can come back. Even more excited about this shoot than the last one if that's possible.

rconnerley 12-01-2012 2:15 AM

Excellent! I Look forward to seeing you and Mike there!

What a great weekend! Thanks to all who attended. Check out the After Action Report here: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=33286.0

Top equipment does not make you a top shooter. We tried to get it done with untested upgrades from our stock sights and while Mike showed improvement over last time, I stayed the same. I'm hoping that with practice that 3rd (or 4th or 5th) time will be the charm.

Thanks to all that put this on. It was good to review previous lessons and to keep building on them.

We WILL be back.
