Where did all the Mosins go...
I just purchased another Mosin - Life is great. It is a 1920, 91/30, Izhevsk
Ordnance Factory, Hex receiver, Laminate, perhaps a Izhevsk Cossack, all matching numbers, brass escussions, scalloped receiver wall, black end caps, six digit serial number and they let me have it out the door for only $280.29.

It only took me calling twelve stores to find it! Some of the friendly people at the Big 5's did mention that there had been emails about perhaps sending their unsold Mosin's out of state to sell and others coming here would not be as abundant - "supply is drying up".

What have you been learning about the importers supply of Mosin Nagants?

Good One

Rickrock1 05-03-2014 4:49 PM

I just seeing a nice one at Big5 Chino I think around $150

miniprepper 05-04-2014 5:29 AM

Yes it is the name of a song, You are correct it was Flowers, now Mosins and may we work diligently so its not Americans.

I keep looking mostly at Big 5 (and all the other outlets too) for 1927, 39, 41 and 1945. I am on a budget so I do like to Big 5 Sale Prices.

spcfowler 05-04-2014 5:37 AM

Big 5 and pawn shop/gun store are the places I always see them, but they are fewer and farther between.

miniprepper 05-04-2014 6:42 AM

I have a list of my 10 favorite Big 5 stores I call almost weekly. Good point about the Pawn Shops - Thank You

miniprepper 05-07-2014 7:15 AM

It is 48 1/2 inches long so therefore it is certainly a Dragoon I think.

Also near the date it is restamped with MO 53. Is the additionally stamped date when the old wood stock was discarded and replaced with the Laminated stock?

Dattebayo 05-07-2014 8:35 AM

Turner's had a sale on low quality ones for $120 last week. Then had good quality ones for $150 and excellent for $170. I dunno if the sale price is still going on, but they should still have a few in stock.

miniprepper 05-07-2014 12:13 PM

I will go to Turner's as soon as I get off work. Hopefully I will have good news for everybody.

Thank you

miniprepper 05-07-2014 5:53 PM

Good news: Turner's have a bunch! Thank you for the post.

Do not worry - I only purchased three of'em.

1925, 1927 and 1939.

Good Luck on your visit!

miniprepper 05-08-2014 5:08 AM

Good idea, because there are a bunch of Saints I am going to need to go purchase a bunch more Mosin's.

miniprepper 05-25-2014 7:54 PM

Big 5 has a sale so I purchased a 1936 hex laminated Tula Mosin. Life is good. Now I am looking for a 1941.

miniprepper 05-29-2014 7:13 PM

Just added a 1941 to my collection - reason to celebrate again!

SanDiegoMan 06-02-2014 7:27 PM

With 45 million soviet ones circulating plus the ones made in other countries (china, finnland and so on.) I seriously doubt we're about to hit a shortage. maybe you just need to change up your habits when it comes to searching for them.

sfsppe 06-02-2014 7:53 PM

Here's my six. Workin' on #7.

miniprepper 06-03-2014 5:39 PM

Most impressive, I did notice the different lengths. What are the years? Is the top one in the 1920,s and the bottom M44 a 1944? Is the 2nd from the bottom and the top both from Finland? Thank You for posting.

miniprepper 06-05-2014 5:46 AM

Excellent - I went for depth - I have from 1925 to 1944. I have two converted Dragoons.

Cowboy T 06-05-2014 11:17 AM

Lovely collection (I see 2 Finns in there, BTW).

Even at $150, Glorious Vintovka Mosina is still a terrific bargain for the amount of rifle that you get.

miniprepper 06-05-2014 6:58 PM

Yes, top and 2nd from the bottom. I just picked up My 1936 Tula laminate with all 4 matching numbers. Life is good.

They are getting scapped up...

miniprepper 06-07-2014 8:42 PM

Late this afternoon I made about a dozen calls to Mosin retailers and found very few - I am still looking for a 1924...

My recent Mosin came from Turners in Pasadena. It did not have a Bayonet, ammo pouch or green cleaning equipment bag in the box so I ask Michelle if I could also get those items as part of the purchase. She did say what I had learned before that some of the boxes do not have everything needed. She followed up with that she would try to find me the missing parts. A few hours later she called and to my delight she had secured a bayonet for me. Wow, I am very happy with her extra work for me. Yes, I just received only the bayonet and am OK. To me it is the extra care she and Turners took to get the bayonet that is so special - up and beyond the needs of the sale.

adamjay 06-19-2014 9:46 PM

Was at my local big 5 today buyin fishing line- noticed they had no mosin on the wall- first time I've seen this in all these years. Maybe they'll get more next week.

miniprepper 06-26-2014 3:54 PM

I was going to purchase a Mosin Sniper from Mitchells Mausers and Oops I saw way to many bad reviews - could that be true for now too? To think I almost spent almost $1500.00 there for a Mosin - I am glad I went here first. Thank You - I will shop someplace different unless I hear a lot of positive changes there now.

miniprepper 06-26-2014 3:55 PM

I have been making calls to Big 5 - Inventory is short.

JMP 06-26-2014 3:59 PM

They have all been bubba'd

miniprepper 06-26-2014 4:32 PM

miniprepper 06-26-2014 4:33 PM

Any other stories good or bad about Mitchells Mausers . Actually haven't had any good news yet...

miniprepper 06-29-2014 5:49 PM

Need some help: I have a 48 1/2" 1920/53. What is the 53? Could that be when the Laminated stock was added?

chinaserf1 06-29-2014 5:57 PM

Mitchell's Mausers are most likely NOT "original." Their reputation is of creating pretty guns for the collector market. Re-bluing and new stocks are to be expected.

miniprepper 06-30-2014 12:25 PM

Excellent, Good to know. My investment could become about $1500.00 out the door.

miniprepper 07-28-2014 8:42 PM

I counted:
24 Russian Mosin Nagants
22 91/30
16 Izhevsk
15 Hex
08 Tula
05 Dragoon
03 Laminate
02 Carbines and
01 Conclusion is that I need more Mosins...

miniprepper 08-22-2014 6:10 PM
