SRM 1216...King of the Bullpup Shotguns?

First I picked up the UTAS UTS-15...then the Kel-Tec KSG and now the SRM 1216. It's the king of them all I think.

I like the bullpup design and I love that it is semiauto. 16 rounds.

Yes, it IS California legal. It has a bullet button and each tube in the magazine only holds 4 rounds. The magazine has 4 tubes for a total capacity of 16. But just like on the KSG where you have to flip a switch on the SRM 1216 you rotate the magazine tube.

Sounds more complicated than it is. After a few times I could turn it almost as fast as I could shoot it.

I have a Saiga 12, Mossberg 930 SPX, Remington 870, Benelli Supernova, Mossberg 500 and 500A and I used to have a Kushnapup Saiga 12 Bullpup. I am not a big fan of the after market bullpup kits. None of them feel like factory or high quality.

Once upon a time I even had a Mossberg 500 Bullpup. Maybe someday I can get my hands on a Neostead NS2000 or High Standard Model 10 to add to the bullpup shotgun collection.

Excellent write-up/review.

It is very courteous of SRM Arms to develop a California edition.

Neat guns, no doubt and would love to shoot one but......

Isn't a bullpup defined as having the weapon's action behind the trigger group/primary grip? That looks like the trigger group/primary grip are below the action, like an Uzi or MAC 10(there are others I know, these just popped into my mind), neither of which would be considered bullpup designs.

Just curious.......

Primarily yes, but for shotguns its a little confusing. The Kushnapup Saiga is a true Bullpup configuration, one that is identical in layout to the AUG and SA-80.

But most folks call these a bullpup because of its unconventional design.

I get that it is very compact, particularly considering the amount of ammo onboard, and, at a glance, it looks like a bullpup. I'd love to shoot one first hand, just see how it feels and works.

Perhaps it's bullpupish or bullpuplike.......

I guess it would be a hybrid of sorts. Most conventional shotguns have the trigger group behind the action whereas the SRM it's below. Because of this it still uses a linkage for the hammer and shaves a few inches off the length.

It is awesome to shoot. I can put more rounds downrange twice as fast as my KSG or UTS-15. If I wasnt in this damn state I could probably change out magazine and fire 32 rounds in the same time it takes to shoot 14 out of my others.

How does the bullet button work on this? Is it setup that you need a tool to open wherever the shells go?

The KSG has been great. I havent really had any issues with it. Real fun gun to shoot. Congrats on picking one up!

That's awesome. I had no idea the SRM was CA legal.

How do you like the UTAS? I've heard mixed things about it.

My 3rd Gen UTAS is great. I prefer it over the KSG and so has everyone who has shot them both with me.
