25 yard slug group

1 Attachment(s)
Just bought my first shotty.. took my new plain mossberg 500 out yesterday to shoot some slugs.. my second time ever shooting a shot gun. man it kicks.. 18 1/2 inch HD barrel with rifled slugs.. bead sight.. I was aiming about 6 to 7 inches below the center of the target.. 7 shot group of about 4 inches

Felt like posting my shot group from 25 yards

Id Love to see what other people are capable of with the same set up.. no fancy red dots or rifled barrels..

High falootin' that's good shooting!

First rule to owning a shotgun is to never call it a “shotty”. Nice shooting by the way. ;)

This was at 25 yds from a bench, rested on sand bags. Aimed at center of paper. Rem 870 with 20 inch cylinder bore with rifle sights. Homemade slugs with 19 gr of Red Dot. You done good!

Try 100 yards sometime. Surprising how well it can be done.

Id like to try. No where to try that around here

Sounds fun! I'll try it next weekend.

Rubadub try some buckshot loads and see how they pattern in your gun.

Thats my next step.. it also came with a 28 in barrel that I still need to try out

Give cut shells a go.... you're welcome :)

no rifling, open cylinder, single shot goodness...

Here's a pic of zombie hits out over 100 yards the first time I tried cutting shells

My other suggestion is make use of the long barrel and shot some clays...moving targets are tons of fun!

Be safe, have fun, and I second "don't call it a shotty" :oji:

:cheers2:

Every month we set up plastic juice and water jugs on the berm in this photo, 90 yards from the firing line:

We routinely splatter them with slugs. I do it from a kneeling position; one of my employees does it standing, off hand. He even does it with the KSG.

As I have said many times: if the gun grabbers actually knew anything about guns, they would have banned 12 gauge slugs long ago.

It's ok. VP biden told us to get a shotgun.

You can even fire it randomly if you get scared...
