P80 PF940Cv1 Compact
These should start shipping next week. Who has one (or more) on order and where? I have 2 textured on order from Brownells. They had a deal for $35 off $350 and free shipping so I ordered 2, a few mags and a 30275 trigger housing to get to $350.
I have a g19 slide and an AA .22 conversion kit with 2 lpks ready and waiting :) https://www.rainierarms.com/media/pr...ymer80-883.jpg |
Ordered one yesterday from Brownells also.

Should be interesting to see how the pf940c turns out. Our shipment hasn't come yet but we're just as eager as everyone else.
|
I bought a G23 slide off eBay a while back in anticipation of this getting released.
|
So about $80 for the lower parts kit, $280 for the complete upper, and maybe by tomorrow I get the frame for $150.
That's about what I could get a G23 for. Do you think it'll be worth it? |
I hope so. My PF940 build turned out great and had no issues. Well, the first round stovepiped but I blame my 1 handed limp wristing technique. 1 round in the mag and protecting my face with my free hand while firing the first time :). Ran flawless after that.
I got my G19 slide for $350 and the AA kit for $220. The LPK for both were under $60 ea. I think it's worth it for a unique pistol. And I like building stuff like this so it's more of a hobby. |

Tempted to cancel my Brownells order and place it with Rainier.

I'll take the plunge soon enough with the compact model. I was a pre-sale buyer the first go 'round, I'll wait for the 1.5 version on the compact. |
I canceled brownells they said they're not shipping till 3/17 at the soonest when I talked to them earlier... talked to Rainier after , & no they are not one in the same, but a little birdie did tell me they ordered 2000 of the textured frame and they are shipping out already

I just ordered from Rainier. I'll cancel my Midway order when I get a shipping confirmation. Thanks for the heads up.

Got mine yesterday. Built it today.
It is not working right, please help! Slide to frame is not sitting evenly. The right side where the trigger reset is higher, thus some time, it doesnt reset the trigger. https://goo.gl/photos/vv1NUDgzaf8cbEiZA https://goo.gl/photos/RRJiHUivFEYWZWmd9 https://goo.gl/photos/RQRptYaa8LBwiJoB7 https://goo.gl/photos/VY4nbiQrtoEwVMbVA I tried to trouble shoot it, but it looks like the block might be uneven ? Nothing i took off could affect it into this. I am unsure, still trying to figure it out. |
Can you take pics of the inside of the frame with the slide off?
|
|
Can you take a focused pic of the trigger housing from the top (2nd pic)?
Does the slide rack smoothly? Will it go into battery when you let it go from 1" back? When the trigger resets, is the trigger release smooth? The recoil spring area that's supposed to be milled out looks a little uneven. Does that get in the way of the slide or rsa when racking? Another thought. Looks like you have an aftermarket trigger. Do you have a stock trigger and trigger bar to test? Maybe bend the connector out to about 95°? Might give a bit more tension out to hold the trigger bar. The rear rails look bent. Front is closer to the center than the back on the right side. That's all I got from the pics you posted. |
So, stock trigger works fine, but the slide to frame fit still bothers me. I took out both blocks, and the slide sits unevenly still on the frame. I think the frame is slightly out of spec. I will check again in the AM.
Oh, thank you BobbyC. |
From the pics, it looks like the area that you mill out for the recoil spring assembly is uneven and might be pushing up on the rsa causing the slide to sit uneven.
|
I put just the slide onto the frame with no internals etc... It does not sit squarely or even. One side is still higher than the other. I sanded the milled area evenly also. Gun is functional though.
|
Can we see a pic with the slide on?

Oh.... How'd you get it so soon? I'm jealous!!! :p |
Thanks. That does look a little messed up.
|
Looking at the pics again, it might just be that the front part of the frame is twisted ccw a bit.
If that's the case, I'd shoot an email to P80. |
Oh man, let's hope that tweaked frame is not how all of them came off the injection mold. That would be worse quality control than the trigger housing defect on the pf940....

I wouldn't exactly call the trigger housing pocket a defect. More of a tolerance issue so if you were slightly off with the rear pin hole, it would still work. Yeah, having a shim isn't the best but it hasn't bothered me at all. Also remember these are 80% polymer frames and not complete products. There will always need to be some work required for fitting. You will most likely be disappointed if you get into this expecting perfection. Especially if you're not handy with tools. |
It functions 100% so far, but when you aim, you can definitely tell the slide twists. This is what bugs me.
|
If it bothers you, send P80 an email. I never dealt with them but I hear they're very good about this stuff.

I'm not trying to rip on polymer80, these frames are awesome, but I'm not going to pretend there aren't issues. I don't think polymer80 denies these issues either, which is why there's now version 1.5 The trigger housing issue is dangerous, the rest of the issues are just annoying. If I were to criticize p80 for anything, it would be setting an overly optimistic ship date which ends up pressuring them to meet a deadline. I'd much rather wait an extra 2 months for a higher quality product. Snice I see people cancelling their orders and reordering with rainier to try and save a few days, I guess p80 needs to cater to the "instant gratification" crowd on this. |
I tried a EP 80 ar lower a few years ago when P80 just announced they were bringing one to market. They were very good answering questions via email and on social media. The EP 80 had too many issues. They sent me a replacement and it was also off so I scrapped it and just bought a forged lower since I had a bunch of parts.
I did a lot of research on the PF940 before ordering one. I ground down the slide block screws a couple of mm so it wouldn't get in the way of the rsa. I cut a piece of credit card for the trigger housing (15mm x 51mm). I reamed out the 5/64 pin holes to 3mm, the trigger pin fit fine. I found the dimensions of the slide rails and cut the rear rails to match. It took very little time to fine tune the rear rails and my slide went into battery when pulled back 1/2" every time. Took it out a couple of weeks ago and shot flawlessly for about 120-150 rds. I was expecting some issues but after my research, it was painless. So easy (for me) that I couldn't wait for the compact version. :) |

In my experience, they're very good unless the problem is a fundamental design/manufacturing flaw that they really can't do much about...except refund your money...which they won't do.

That would bother me as well.
I'm guessing that the rails are not coplanar; that is, the rail surfaces are not in the same geometric plane. Also, it's hard to tell from the pictures, but from what I can see the rear rails look to be significantly longer than those found on a Glock factory frame. (On my Glock 17 for example, the rear rails are only about 0.39" long). While this difference in length shouldn't necessarily be a problem per se, it seems to me that the longer the rails are (unnecessarily in this case), the more accurately they would need to be aligned. "It looks like you drilled the pin holes on the right side of the frame at enough of an upward angle to actually lift the LBRS and RRM up on that side. You can see the RRM rail flange on the right side is slightly higher than the left, and it also looks like the LBRS isn’t touching the top of the frame on the same side either. I do believe the frame will work but seeing as you preordered I know you want this frame to be top notch and I am willing to send you a frame and jig combo but it will come with no rails and I will need a photo of your lower destroyed."
They are awesome! So once again, it looks like operator's error :-) |
Nice! Glad to hear they stepped up.
I've heard a lot of guys having to destroy the lower and send a pic when they replaced it. I think it's SOP. Still impatiently waiting for mine  |
