Howdy
New member here, been lurking a long time decided to formally register.
I grew up in a very rural state. Dad started teaching me to shoot when I was ~6, started being his "backup" with my Daisy BB gun on hunting trips when I was 7, I think around 8 or so graduated to a single shot 20 gauge. At 11 I got my first pump shotgun and shortly thereafter gave me unrestricted access to his gun cabinet.
Guns were kept in a cabinet, not a safe because you might need to get one in a hurry and takes too long to open a safe. As a kid, you knew far better than to open his cabinet without his permission.
Anyway once you had access to the gun cabinet, got to shoot all the time, walked out the backdoor 100 yards to the irrigation canal and plinked in the canal to hearts content. Mostly .22 pistol and rifle, shotgun during hunting season, .357 every once in a while just for kicks.
Moved to California 15 years ago and stopped because I wasn't used to having to go to a range to shoot. Recently picked it back up again and the Calguns network has been very helpful.
Thank you.
