Revolver Pics
I thought there was a Wheel Gun pics thread but I searched and didn't find it so here goes:
Colt Python .357 Magnum http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...LOSITY/357.jpg Mods: Feel free to addend this thread into a post of an existing one if I missed it. |
When did you pick this up?
|
This is the first handgun I ever had, just never took any pics of it.
|
That Colt is BEAUTIFUL...
I'll post pics too I just don't want to compete with that... |

Ya know. Never having handled a Python or an Anaconda, how does the cylinder release work. Do you hook it with your thumb and pull it away from the cylinder?
Oh yeah. Nice pic |
Yeah you pull towards yourself

Someone actually bought the tactical railed Smith revolver. I saw that at the Shot Show a while back and just chuckled to myself. It's probably going to be collectable in a little bit when they discontinue it. |
Personally I think a nice red dot like a Bushnell Holo Sight on a revolver is kick-***. I wish more wheel guns came with top rails.

Shameless plug... 1967 Colt Python, factory nickel finish. For sale, check the sale forum.
http://homepage.mac.com/nategjesdal/...hon%20%231.jpg I also have a like-new 4-inch Python in Royal Blue (not for sale) from 1978, like-new condition, but it's still in the 10-day waiting period so I don't have it in my possession yet :( |

The Performance center railed revolver was originally designed for SWAT entry team members who carry the "body bunker" shields. When shooting a semi auto the slide frequently smacks the shield and causes a FTF so revolvers are still frequently carried by these team members. With the 8 round cylinder and rails for lights these are the "go-to" guns for many of them. Sweet gun for its intended purpose.
Props to the performance center toys! |

That is a sweet 29!

I would post pictures of the 327 I just bought, but vrej took them off his Photobucket so here is Smith's standard picture:

I have never seen two tone finish on a revolver before. Sweet!

... then I thought about it a little more. No doubt about it, that's one hell of a Performance Center S&W. I'm sure that it has a trigger better than 99.8% of all the other pictured guns in every thread on CalGuns. I don't know if it will be adopted by the SWAT teams that it was intended for, but it seems to me that gun is a number one primo home defense cannon. It's got it all, as I see it, in order of importance: 1. Revolver reliability 2. .357 Magnum 3. S&W-made 4. Performance Center craftsmanship 5. 8-round capacity in moon clips 6. Streamlight illumination, even if it's not very easy to use effectively. 7. Top rail (I think I'd mountthe tiny Zeiss breadbox red-dot on it) Questionable feature: 8. Hammer lock security, but I won't argue for or against it. |

Aluminim alloyed with Scandium for the frame. The frame is anodized black to protect against oxidation. The Titanium does not easily oxidize so it's left unfinished. The main thing to know is that this gun is very lightweight for an 8 shot N-frame 357. The lightweight cylinder helps you get a lighter doube action trigger. I bought this to get into competetive revolver shooting. 38 short colt cases with 200gr bullets loaded to about 650fps will make minor power factor and barely recoil more than a 22. :) |

Wonderful balance, wonderful trigger, 8 shots x 357. Sorry, Randall, but to me it certainly looks far better than those 2-tone guns with different-colored cylinder (very 'pimp' appearance to me). But I wish the hell they'd make a 627 wheelgun in regular production and not from the Perf. Center - hate that funky wedge-angled bbl. S&W's PC always has to mess up something even though the underlying performance/feel is there. Just make me an 8-shot N-frame 627 in 357 with 5" full underlug bbl and I'll be happy. (Of course, it should have an unfluted cylinder. :) ) |

I test drove both 327s b4 buying and I felt with a scandium framed gun, It had a nicer balance with a steel cylinder rather than a titanium. |

That's why I went for the titanium cylindered version. I could care less for the two-tone either, but I'm not going to the trouble of black-oxiding the cylinder and shroud just to make it match. I own guns to shoot, not to worry about how they look. |
