evollep3 10-02-2009 2:20 PM

bruceflinch 10-02-2009 6:28 PM

AR newbie, here. What is meant by featurless?

fourXfour 10-02-2009 6:52 PM

Here's mine, it's only missing an Aimpoint H-1

fourXfour 10-02-2009 6:53 PM

Featureless means no pistol grip, flash hider, forward grip or collapsible stock

I went the MMG route:

MontClaire 10-03-2009 8:43 PM

the questions are : is you comfortable and what's your grouping? Can you still fire fast and accurate or do you suggest practice with these stocks more?

beemaze 10-03-2009 8:51 PM

This might help you decide..

MontClaire 10-03-2009 8:55 PM

it's painful to see you people have to adapt to this crap but i gotta give you props for being a true sportsman. next they'll make you carry only 1 round per mag. good luck. i'll stick to my bullet button.

hd0642 10-05-2009 6:36 AM

you guys ever post pics of your fetureless builds on other forums and what kind of response did you get ?

SuperSet 10-05-2009 6:48 AM

IME Only..I've taken it out of state to compete and take classes. There are 2 reactions:

1. Some will make sly remarks about your rifle and the state. These generally are the "Gun Collectors" and concentrate on Form.

2. Some are curious and ask you how it changes the handling and then realize that it doesn't make much difference when you're shooting better than they are. These generally tend to be the "Shooters" and concentrate on Function.

What SS said... You get mixed reactions & comments but if you bring your skills & show it works just as good as any other the comments go away!
Oh, BTW.... Sweet builds everyone!!

Another for the thread...
I got bored last weekend and built up another lower. Still have to add the glass :)

Let's see you Evil I mean Featureless Builds
I got the idea after seeing a few threads lately asking about Featureless Builds. So what else is better then seeing what all is out there, feel free to post up specs if you'd like.

Here is my favorite AR I have had so far, started off with this Lower and a LWRC M6A2 GPU and I also had a Dedicated .22LR that I sold in the last month or so :(

Sun Devil Lower
Magpul CTR Pinned
Magpul MIAD w/ very homemade Fin
VM Hy-Tec Mag Block w/ 32 Round Uzi Mag :43:
RRA 9mm Buffer

Spike's Tactical 9mm Upper with CMMG Ramped Bolt
Spike's Tactical Carbine Rail
Spike's Tactical Fake Can
Magpul XTM Panel Covers
AimPoint Clone (Holds 0 just fine for 9mm)

jonni 11-04-2009 9:49 PM

your homemade fin made me lol

nice rifle

fourXfour 11-05-2009 10:31 AM

spikes upper and lower. Solar tactical grip, sully stock & elzetta light mount

evidens83 11-05-2009 10:35 AM

That homemade fin looks well *ahem* homemade. Nice rifle either way. The solar tactical grip is the only way to go if your going featureless IMO. Very nice setup fourXfour!

Flogger23m 11-06-2009 2:15 PM

See some nice ones. I am going the Solartactical route. Anyone else know of anything else aside from that and homemade? I have an MMG, but it doesn't look like it will fit (gap).

Was used on my AK, and looks to have been cut to fit.

Dirtbiker 11-06-2009 2:49 PM

I gots one (actually more than one)

Hey Fate,

What kind of grip is that? Fits with the Sully stock perfectly!

It should! It was custom made (pre-Solar Tactical grips) using CAA G27 for base. 12 gauge steel, couple bolts with lock nuts, truck bed spray liner and lots of sweat equity. :D

beemaze 11-09-2009 8:52 PM

Nice, I'm too I went for the MMG

Fate 11-09-2009 8:54 PM

Full specs and some gigantor pics here:

Gio 11-13-2009 7:20 PM

Nice rifle fourxfour, thanks for posting your featureless build ;)

Yeah I know it looks a little different, but I did it myself and it cost me a total of 50 cents :D I will be ordering a custom FDE Solar Tactical Grip soon enough. I also made m Fin before duraglock ever posted his grip idea, I stole the fin idea from another member that went with a metal fin.

Thanks for the positive feedback on my 9mm AR. It should not matter how it looks, but how it shoots. So far 130 down range with no problems, so yeah I like my ugly homemade Fin :43: At least I can do this when not at a monitored range :53: Oh yeah 33 rounds of pure joy :D

RudyN 11-13-2009 8:01 PM

Here we go. U15 stock so I don't need a Bullet Button
