I thought it was time we had a thread dedicated to these ugly rifles. :D

Nice scout Jaiofspam! If you don't mind, what is the mount and scope you have on there? And how is it holding up for you? Thanks.
Beautiful Mosins guys... Will need to take pics of mine soon. |
Quote:
as for the scope its a ncstar 2-7x32 LER... for something that cost $35 its holding up very very very well to the recoil of the mosin while still holding zero :D |
Awesome, thanks Jaiofspam! I have read some negative reviews regarding the side-mounted brass screws configuration of Darrel's scount mounts so I was thinking about giving S&K and/or B-Square mounts a try...
Thanks again for the review. |

you could always give the cheapy ncstar mounts found all over the web a try for about $10... my buddy uses this config and its holding up fine. my only gripe with the ncstar mount is that the hex screws strip easily :chris: |
My all matching Izhevsk '44 M91/59.
http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/3...sin9159kk8.jpg This is in great shape and the bore is perfect, since these didn't see much use. Great rifle. |

[QUOTE=wayoutwest;910845]My pretties
http://www.gunco.net/gallery/data/50...an_C_R_005.jpg[QUOTE] How did you get your wood to look like that? refinished it or are the laminated? And what did you use and your method for using it? |
The middle M44 and the bottom M91/30 are laminated stocked, the top M38 is hard wood.
Not much you can do to refinish a laminated stock other than clean off cosmoline and shellac (if used) then either reapply shellac or oil. The hard wood is easier to sand down, stain and oil because you don't have epoxy to deal with. |
Here are mine...
http://www.type03.net/mainpagepics/12mns.jpg Mosin-Nagants are just too ugly to take outside though. |
Wow. You have quite a few.

http://datsunracing.com/other/mosinset.jpg Also have a bastardization of a 91/30 cut down to carbine length (i didn't do it, bought it as a parts gun for next to nothing.... the receiver is hex and 1937 production... such a waste :( ) |
91/59
I did see a few of these last week at b5 for $299, wow thats $200 mark up.

Beautiful rifles everyone. When I get home ill post pics of two of mine.

My M-44 looks the same with all matching Serial Numbers and BTW, I think there is nothing ugly about these guns. I am fortunate that mine is solid wood as well.
