Great deal (and free shipping)

For those on the fence, the 9mm version falls off the list on 7/2

The standard? Or CA legal 9mm?

WTF is the point of a CA legal 9mm if its not even CA accesable lol

SVTPete83 06-19-2014 11:02 PM

Wow that is cheap!

The CA "approved" 9mm version. AFAIK, the standard version is only available
to LEO's or via SSE/transfer.

Mot Mi 06-20-2014 4:58 AM

This is a great deal I should have waited to get this instead over paying. Could have walkes otd with it for less than 450

islabaseball 06-20-2014 5:56 AM

I paid $435 plus tax dros but I got the non-CA model which I'm ok with but $329 good deal

But the CA version is still staying on correct? IIRC the standards been SSE only. I'm only asking because I'm planning on getting one in December and want to know if I have to rush to get the CA one now to avoid SSE for that one too.

Nitrostix 06-20-2014 8:22 AM

Smoking deal, I just got mine for $419...plus Tax and DROS. :(

munkeeboi 06-20-2014 8:37 AM

if you can SSE for cheap, the standard version is $344 in 9mm

Did S&W say they would let the Shield drop off the roster as well?

Deadon 06-20-2014 9:11 AM

Wow awesome price!

July 2nd it falls off very unpatriotic

I believe I read the CA Shields and SVDEs were one of the few S&W semi-autos that they were going to "freeze" and make no changes to and keep renewing.

$407 OTD through Sean at Redfield, that is a smoking deal for sure. I picked up one of the 40 cal shields from them at $360.00+DROS and felt that was a good deal.

That was my understanding, as well. I was really surprised, when I saw
that the drop date was in July. I had expected it to be at least until the
end of the year. I have not seen it documented anywhere, but something
must have changed in S&W's plan. I think a lot of people are unaware that
the drop date is in a couple weeks. As islabaseball pointed out, many of
S&W's semi-auto offerings will be off list by the Oct timeframe. The 40cal
Shield drops in early Sept. Anyone in the market for a semi-auto should
familiarize themselves with the DOJ roster, and keep an eye on the drop
dates. By 1/1/15, the offerings will be FAR fewer than they are today.

Nice deal!

CK_32 06-20-2014 10:53 AM

Crap! Good looking out. Looks like I'll be getting a SSE'd non CA shield in October then.

Boo!

sig-guy 06-20-2014 10:56 AM

Looks like it's $330+10 for cc with no check discount.

RR&Associates in Burbank is $45 + $25

islabaseball 06-20-2014 11:10 AM

Still banging little 9mm for the price even with the skateboard ramp

True, but all S&W has to do is pay the renewal fee. Given that they only had about a year to sell the Shields, I'm betting they will be renewing so they can recoup their investment.

That's what I thought I heard too. Got an authoritative source link?

BTW Kentucky says they are last shipping these Monday to California due to Roster issues.

Don't panic - use your last 5 months to get 5 more SSE semiautos while you can.

islabaseball 06-20-2014 1:27 PM

Don't go by S&W word they are a business they say whatever they want but when it comes down to it it's whatever CA has on paper! Plan for the worst hope for the best!

$45 for transfer +SSE is way CHEAP. Unless, it's just the transfer fee (no SSE).

No SSE needed on a CA roster pistol

Right. Then it's rather normal transfer fee. I've seen it cheaper :)

With gas at $4.60/gal and a car that gets 15mpg it costs too much to drive out for somewhere cheaper

Get a cheap motorcycle. 50+ mpg, low maintenance

potguts 06-23-2014 7:51 AM

I emailed S&W to ask them about the Shield falling off the roster, and this was their response:

"Dear Customer,

S&W will not renew any Semi-Automatic Firearms that expire from the list. Most manufacturers are taking the same stance.

If further assistance is required please reply accordingly.

Sincerely,"

That's a bummer. I was thinking I might get one of these for CCW down the road, but I'm in 30-day jail until mid july. I guess it's time to watch PPT prices go up again.

Did you happen to mention that in January they said the Shield would be kept in the roster? Just wondering...

No, I just sent a one liner saying "the shield is set to expire 7/2, will you renew it".

It's possible that someone at S&W is misinformed. I hope so. Seems a shame to let it expire. But at the same time I understand, eventually they have to take a stand against CA's ridiculous laws.

RMB, Digital Instincts and San Jose gun trader are all $65 total including DROS. All of them are in the south bay though. Ask they for a quote for out the door for tax.

awiner 06-23-2014 9:48 AM

Here is the link to where S&W said in January that the Shield will stay on the roster as long as no changes are made and that they are no planning any changes:

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...nia-drop-dead/

As many have pointed out, who the hell knows what will happen. Carpe Diem

Baboosh 06-23-2014 9:55 AM

We have a few in stock that we will blow out for $400 OTD. This is gun, tax and DROS.

huntingsocal 06-23-2014 10:18 AM

FYI for you socal guys, insight shooting range does $50 out of state transfer, same location as the monthly calguns meet up/shoot

Interesting that the list still shows 7/2/2014 as expiration date and it came out in Turner's hunt ad today and hasn't been on there "oh my god hurry up and buy this." ad that they've been putting out for those falling off the roster

Hopefully we'll see that date change soon.

I put my order in at OP's link Monday and haven't heard a peep yet

You might try logging into your account, and checking status. It may have
