Dirty primers? Were they ever cleaned?
Bruce wished he owned a Droid RAZR. |
You serious ? Everything's been shot as a lot, it's all the same.
|
Its caused by the brass being exposed to air and moisture. The Statue of Liberty is made of copper and has turned green, it is the copper oxidizing.

I agree that it has to be moisture that somehow caused it. The weird thing is why only those cases, and not the ones closer to the edge of the box? Maybe some liquid got spilled in the box but only in those slots where the affected shells are.
|
I'm taking apart a bunch of 19 year old .44 mag reloads I got in a deal and some of the interiors look like that when others right next don't. I've fired the primers and they still go bang on even the most corroded.
No clue. |
Loads are 30 days old 1st 1/2 were shot 30 days ago.
|
Moisture.
|
I don't get it. I don't where that would have happened?
|
Did a cat pee on the box? :p It's moisture, called Verdigris by the artsy-fartsy crowd. The copper in the brass is oxidizing. Copper with 30% Zinc is a common alloy for cartridge brass.

Verdigris ,I thought that was a color they painted front rooms in N. Hollywood ?
