Volunteers hand out literature, talk to passers-by, describe the benefits of CalGuns.net, sell CalGuns and CGSSA merchandise and generally hang out and have a good time for a few hours.

You're allowed to have your gun there? (I know probably sounds silly but go easy on the newb)

No carrying concealed. You can bring a gun to display. They will use zip-ties to immobilize the action. And I believe, no ammunition to fit the displayed weapon.

If I missed anything someone will correct me.

Ryououki 03-26-2013 12:25 PM

Hahaha, I just saw the updated schedule. I will bring cake. Should I bring any other foods too?

cranemech ,you did good on this ,very accurate. We also use the 'buddy system ' to check the guns.
ie: you check your gun and then hand it off to be re-checked and ti-tied.

Also NO slings on guns.
We ALMOST had the entire rack hit the concrete once. :(
And you need a Not For Sale sign under the rack.

Loopwell 03-28-2013 2:58 PM

Make sure you have a ride. Last time I had to get dropped off coming straight from a trip. After the show, my ride didn't show up till 2 hours later. Good thing Hooters is only 3/4 mile from the entrance.

Unfortunately, I can't make this one. Next time again!

What about open carry?! A sling would definitely cause problems, some people like to get handsy with the rifles!

But last time everyone was fairly decent and no one picked the rifles up without asking.

code_blue 03-28-2013 8:26 PM

Based on post #11, I'm assuming the sling got snagged on something and caused a chain reaction which was luckily, saved.

I'm gonna say no to open carry. You'd probably want to avoid anything that can appear to be loaded.

Let's be logical folks. Reading comprehension and critical thinking is important.

:turned:

Please don't sit us next to the taser booth again! Unless the cute girl from florida is there again :D

code_blue 03-28-2013 8:53 PM

Waaaat? I'm definitely going to bring my camera lol. See you folks there!

Yeah.. She wasn't too hard on the eyes.. I had fun talking to her about Florida. But you're right, the tazer noise got to be unbearable.

The April 20 show is in Building D, which is the larger L shaped building closer to the Horse Racing track. We should be along the East Wall, near the North wall like we were in November. It's not quite as busy a location, away from the ammo and mag vendors, which is good. More space to talk with passers-by.

bplvr 03-29-2013 8:49 AM

X-roads now has "Do Not Handle Without Permission " signs.
Just ask Traci for a couple.

Bridge377 03-29-2013 2:53 PM

Complete noob ready and willing to help

If needed, please let me know.

Can bring snacks!

Bizoink 03-29-2013 8:47 PM

Did you get mine. If you want a newb :)

NotEnufGarage 03-31-2013 7:18 PM

BPLVR - I can handle 2 newbies per shift, especially considering this is only our third show and there aren't that many veterans.

The reason that we only have one noob /shift is in case your other veteran does not show up. If u are the only veteran and need to "go read a book", only noobs will be at the booth.

BonnieB 04-01-2013 12:19 PM

Based on parking costs and feedback, it might be good to set up carpools among the volunteers.

Meet somewhere close to CalExpo, pile in car, go to show, leave by carpool again?

I can't be there but I'll be thinking of you.

softreset 04-02-2013 11:37 PM

1. I do not have a CalGuns Polo. I'd purchase one in XXL.

2. I can work the AM or PM shift, whichever is preferred by the veteran.

3. I'd be a first timer but happy to participate anyway I can, I'm very a social guy. I'm happy to bring snacks and/or baked goods and a rifle or two that I think would be unique for the table to show our diversity.

Bridge377 04-03-2013 7:47 AM

Noob still available if needed.

1} Do you have a BLUE CalGuns Polo ?....... No, would happily purchase one in XL

2} Which day do you prefer? ONLY SATURDAY is available,so pick a day. Anytime

3} Which SHIFT do you prefer ? .......AM ...or ...PM Either

bplvr 04-03-2013 9:30 AM
