All You Young Guys, Report In....

Hello~~ I thought this would be a nice thread to start...

How old are you?

How did you get into firearms?

The Cable Guy 09-13-2008 12:36 AM

I just turned 19 in July.

Got into firearms since I was interested at a young age. Tried paintball, airsoft, but nothing compares to the real thing. :)

palakaboy 09-13-2008 12:54 AM

:D:D:D

The Cable Guy 09-13-2008 7:26 PM

ive already dropped over 500 bucks on my mossberg 500.

About to spend about 1200 on my .22 AR and probably going to pick up a 5.56 upper in two paychecks time.

ChrisXD45T 09-13-2008 7:41 PM

Wow, I thought I was young for the sport at 24.

technique 09-13-2008 8:43 PM

24

Dad and uncle got me into guns. Dad was a hunter got me into bolt guns and shotguns, my uncle was a biker who got me into uzis and black rifles.

ChrisXD45T 09-13-2008 8:50 PM

I forgot part two of the question.
I got into guns on my own, well, a long with a few of my close friends. But none of our parents or family where/are 'gun people.'

Sam 09-13-2008 10:15 PM

I'm 21 and I came addicted to firearms when I turned 21. I knew why father kept firearms (self defense) and I found out why he spent so much money on them (they are so fun to shoot!). I inherited them and I have since gone on to buy two Wilsons and spend thousands on ammo and other accessories. This is by far my most expensive hobby to date.

jcaoloveshine 09-14-2008 2:47 AM

Turned 19 in May, started out way way back when I was a little tike bugging my parents for books about guns and whatnot, I used to go to China every year and I would get a big picture book full of guns.

Then I got an air rifle in July 2007, a 22 rifle in December 2007, and then high powered bolts.

Nobody in my entire bloodline is interested in this stuff, just me :(

LkPillsburyDude 09-14-2008 7:47 AM

Im 24, got into shooting at a young age. Most of my friends shoot and some of my family does too. I dont have an AR yet, maybe at the end of this month.

BlackDrop50 09-14-2008 9:40 AM

23, been shootin since I was 12. Every weekend with my dad when I was little, and I still go to that same range frequently. Safety is embedded into my brain. Passed my HSC test with none failed and didn't study at all.

vinny_land 09-14-2008 12:52 PM

Turn 20 in three more months. Been shooting for 3 years since I grew up in an anti-gun house but learned the basic principles of gun safety from my friend's dad who showed me the right and wrong of firearms.

Matt C 09-14-2008 12:54 PM

24, I've been into shooting as long as I can remember, which is odd since my family was pretty anti.

Jonar 09-14-2008 2:58 PM

im 22.
started shooting standard issue SA-80's (Enfield L8A51) in England when i was 14.
then got into pistols when I came to the US.
And now I'm infected with BRD.

Fun stuff.
I seem to always get into expensive hobbies. sigh... why couldn't I have just done used stamp collecting or something :whistling:

AdamM 09-14-2008 4:58 PM

Im 19, I got into guns when I was 11 and my uncle restored a Remington model 12a .22lr and sent it to me for christmas. Since I turned 18 ive bought a remington .30-06, an AR and an 870 12ga Wingmaster

Jpach 09-14-2008 6:14 PM

Im 19, i first went shooting with my relatives on a quail and anything that moves hunt in New Mexico when I was about 7. Ever since I have been obsessed. I have 2 AR-15s, 1 .308 AR, and a Bulgy-74 in the process of being build by FEDUPWBS. I plan to convince my dad to transfer his handguns to me soon as well.

God Bless The Mauser 09-14-2008 8:40 PM

I'm 18 and have been into guns for as long as I can remember. First got to shoot a gun at about 10 and been shooting ever since. My first real gun was an M1 carbine at 13. Guns are just so damn fun.

Quick Nick 09-14-2008 8:42 PM

I'm 19, it started when I got my grandfather's competition pistols. Now I'm trying to save up for a new rifle and shotgun

This thread title sounds like a child molester's craigslist...

Oh, I'm just about to roll the clock over to 21...

The Soup Nazi 09-14-2008 10:02 PM

I remember signing up for Calguns when I was 16. 18 now and fired countless rounds on a weekly basis.

Jpach 09-14-2008 11:05 PM

Fantasma, I see we live somewhat nearby eachother, what range do you usually go to?

jonathanchen1111 09-14-2008 11:42 PM

I went to the range couple times with my dad and his friends...and been into firearms ever since..I'm turning 20 in November..Just bought my first rifle, WASR-10 =P

Josh3239 09-15-2008 12:01 AM

20 years old, been into guns forever. Also came from an anti-gun household, took forever to convince my parents to let me buy a BB gun and 15 or so. Had an arsenal of airsoft guns and 18 bought my first rifle, got it before my driver's liscence.

Even though I had never shot a real gun, throughout high school I was pretty much known as the gun/airsoft guy.

Lol, same thing with me. For my senior project I even go to bring my GEW 88 to school for a presintation. Placer High was surprisingly cool about it, I just went in told them and they sent someone with me to go get it from the car and that was it.

Hey, we do Santa Clarita is like 10 minutes away. I usually go to Angeles Shooting Range.

JimmyD 09-15-2008 11:20 AM

Whats considered young? I'm 21

My first time shooting a gun was at a ROTC FTX in college. I liked shooting but never really thought about buying a gun. Got into firearms January this year because dedeye peer pressured me into getting a gun at the Ventura county gun show.

MrSlippyFist 09-15-2008 11:38 AM

28

Raised on a farm outside Turlock. Hunted dove and pheasant since I could remember.

dasmi 09-15-2008 11:40 AM

26. Got into guns on my 23rd birthday.

chevyboy_0 09-15-2008 1:00 PM

18, been into guns for a while, my Dad has had guns for forever, Mom can't stand em yet let my stepdad buy shotguns for hunting....:( believe it or not they took my AR away and won't give it back :36:

bubbagump 09-15-2008 1:11 PM

I'm 20. Got into shooting at 12. My grandparents raised me and are hardcore anti-gun democrats. My uncle (Old Recon Scout) and neighbor (Hunter) were my mentors. Brought my .270 home when I was 16. Learned how to clean every type of military firearm my uncle could get his hands on. A clean gun is a happy gun he would tell me. And then he would take his pinky and stick it in some unknown crevice in the AR I had just "cleaned" and come up with some gooey black stuff. GO CLEAN IT AGAIN!

Good Times...

Spiggy 09-15-2008 1:37 PM

21

Airsoft... Also the unnatural interest in the mechanics of firearms

Slayer 09-15-2008 2:57 PM

24.....have always been interested in guns. When I was in third grade, we took turns reading a part of a book in front of the class. I read about M2s, Uzis, M-16s, AK-47s.......lol. Nowadays I'd probably be arrested!

Glock30 09-15-2008 8:49 PM

22 and I have always been around guns. It's weird my parents never took me shooting or showed me guns really, but my dad always had guns under his bed (unloaded for those that freak out) then one of my good friends dad had a gun safe full of AR's and a nice reloading bench setup.

Living in Texas for the past 7 years didn't really help either.

jsnby 09-15-2008 8:58 PM

26.

Dad introduced me to the .22LR when I was 7 or 8. Shot about once a year with Dad growing up. Took a break in college (no time or money). After graduation, dad gave me a Taurus .45. Year or two passed, got a good job, got married, finally had some extra $$ and have been enjoying guns almost every-other weekend for the last couple years.

leitung 09-15-2008 10:50 PM

19 turning 20 in october, got into guns this year, now it's a stupid addiction, right up there with guitars & girls..
