The group buy INCLUDES a set of polymer grips per frame. No, this is not an STI or SVI grip compatible frame. Yes, it does use Series 70 1911 parts.

Administration and Logistics:

We will be shipping frames as soon as new manufacturing completes, unless you're machining locally at Ares when you can pick up your frame at the machine shop.

We will pick the frames and jigs up in person and coordinate pickup in Orange County, Ares Armor, or ship at reasonable cost.

Payment in total and shipping timeframes dependent on Ares' ability to produce and when they'd be ready to deliver.

Understand that there is likely to be a delay between 3-6 months between your payment and their delivery, so instant gratification isn't the name of the game here...

Mr.Sandman 05-13-2012 7:35 PM

Hmm interesting concept. How is the polymer lower half attached to the top part of the frame?

glbtrottr 05-13-2012 7:48 PM

Dmitri, Aaron and the gents contacted - more info on this tomorrow. Cheers!

jingerale 05-13-2012 7:49 PM

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1...amp-2011-Frame

edit: this is directed at the how the polymer might attach to the frame question.

ott1 05-13-2012 8:10 PM

Why not?

I'm in for 1.

CrysisMonkey 05-13-2012 8:18 PM

im in for 2 and a jig

psssniper 05-13-2012 8:25 PM

1-4 frames and possibly a jig.

Is the polymer grip included or is this an extra cost and if so how much?

Dark Sky Solutions 05-13-2012 8:31 PM

Maybe in for one or two depending on funding coming in. Also on end price. Plus a jig if funding comes thru.

doesnt look like a sti frame so dont think the grips will work, makes me wonder does the grip come with the 80%?

anywho here is a edrawing of the 2011 frame to compare http://www.cncguns.com/downloads.html

762shooter 05-13-2012 8:33 PM

Count me in for 6 if we can get to the $102 price.

Cannon-Arms 05-13-2012 8:40 PM

In for four @ $102.00.

ElectronWrangler 05-13-2012 8:43 PM

In for one.

PachecoFTW 05-13-2012 8:45 PM

How do these compare in quality and variants to the KT ordnance KT1911 Frames?

I would appreciate any input especially opinion based on experience.

Musashi 05-13-2012 8:59 PM

im already on the list for 1, but just thought i'd add i'd possibly be in for 3 total.

ThunderDuck 05-13-2012 9:01 PM

I would appreciate any input especially opinion based on experience.

KTO is made of two complete halves braised together. This one is similar to the STI's modular design, where you have the serialized metal upper part of the frame and the interchangeable (sort of) grip with magwell.

I've no idea what the quality will be like. Generally, Ares Armor makes good quality stuff (I have a couple of their slings and their compensator). KTO's machining is pretty good (and sharp :p).

Mr.Sandman 05-13-2012 9:04 PM

In for 1 @ 102.50*

*if we can get it at this rate and it comes with the polymer grips*

bigcalidave 05-13-2012 9:04 PM

I'd probably do one or two, when some details get fleshed out.

I don't think the sti grips will be compatible, the frame was completely designed by us (obviously its a 1911 frame so we didn't re-invent it, but you all know what we mean lol) so we designed the grips to go with it. And as for aluminum grips, they may come down the road, but for now we are going with a polymer grip

my commitment was based on it being an STI-clone and being able to use a standard STI grip. continued presence in any GB would be determined by cost of the grips, and what the delivery time of the grips would be.

Cannon-Arms 05-13-2012 9:11 PM

Also would possibly be in for group buy price on jig, once you get the details sussed out.

DeCloaK 05-13-2012 9:12 PM

I'm in for 1.

troysland 05-13-2012 9:17 PM

I'm in, put me down for 2.

justjeff 05-13-2012 9:18 PM

I Think the price just went from $10250 to $12500 or did i miss something?

couch 05-13-2012 9:20 PM

Marking my place in this thread. Per the other thread, I'm in for one at this time.

darthnugget 05-13-2012 9:28 PM

2 and a jig, 4 if we need the number to get $100

Lostsheep 05-13-2012 9:31 PM

In for 2 for sure maybe more

itisagoodname 05-13-2012 9:35 PM

Im in for 1 or 2 and a jig. Still not sure how the grip works out....?

wash 05-13-2012 9:37 PM

Three questions:

#1, will the polymer grip frame be included?

#2, will there be any proprietary parts or will all standard 1911 parts fit?

#3, on their web site, they mention running build parties, what are they doing?

I don't want them going down like Maadi-Griffin and 3-6 month delivery becomes never.

Any way at $102.50 or $125.00, which ever it is, I'll take three if the grip is included and standard 1911 parts will work.
